Born in Finland, Sami Tammilehto is a versatile percussionist based in London. He holds a degree in percussion performance from Tampere Music Academy and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal Academy of Music.

Tammilehto has performed pieces by some of today’s most prominent composers and is dedicated to promote new music.  He has performed at the Aldeburgh Music Festival, Viitasaari Time of Music Festival, and been aired on BBC Radio 3 and YLE Radio 1. His recent collaborations include a performance of percussion and choreography with the Roehampton University and a live show with the electronic artist Chris Kaz.

Tammilehto has gained professional experience working in several productions of popular West End shows and various symphony orchestras. To supplement his musical skills, he has studied orchestral conducting and Chinese traditional music.

Tammilehto is also a founding member of the ensemble ÄÄNI-kollektiivi launched in April 2015 in Berlin. Combining live music with other art forms, ÄÄNI-kollektiivi has so far toured twice with shows based around social and political themes. Remarkable collaborations include a multi award winning photographer Meeri Koutaniemi and a linguist Tatjana Jefremova from the Mari El republic, Russia. ÄÄNI-kollektiivi also hosts an annual festival “Kaivos” at the old copper mine in Outokumpu Finland.
